The ovulation test measures the concentration of the ovulating hormone LH (luteinizing hormone).
24-36 hours before ovulation, the LH hormone rises significantly, and if you test with an ovulation test, your test will become positive when the hormone has increased in relation to your ovulation.
You can recognize the positive ovulation test by the test line being as dark or even darker than the control line.

It is recommended to start testing for ovulation 2-3 days before the expected ovulation. Ovulation typically occurs 14 days before your menstruation starts. So, if your cycle is 28 days, you should start testing for ovulation on day 11 or 12 (day 1 being the first day of your last menstruation).
If you are unsure about the length of your cycle, it is advised to start testing on day 10 or 11 of your cycle.
Pregnancy tests are designed to react to the pregnancy hormone Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG). This hormone increases if a fertilized egg implants in the woman's uterus. Therefore, an elevated level of hCG in a woman's urine indicates pregnancy.
Pregnancy tests have two antibody lines. One is the control line, which turns color when dipped in urine. If the control line appears with color, it confirms that your test is functioning properly. The other line is called the test line, and this line only turns color if your urine contains the amount of pregnancy hormone hCG that your pregnancy test is sensitive to.
HCG begins to rise when the fertilized egg has implanted 5-10 days after fertilization by a sperm cell and has started to divide. The level of the pregnancy hormone hCG then increases rapidly and doubles every three days during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Clinical tests have shown that 99% of all pregnant women can test positive on a regular pregnancy test on the day of expected menstruation.
In short, the woman's temperature rises by 0.2 to 0.5 degrees Celsius the day after ovulation due to the hormone progesterone. The temperature remains at this level during the latter part of the cycle until menstruation begins, and the woman's cycle starts again.
This means that if one measures their temperature every day, they will also be able to identify when they ovulate and have the highest chance of becoming pregnant through intercourse or insemination.
