Information om SwimCount Sperm Quality Test

Contains: SwimCount Sperm Quality Test. Collection cup. A syringe to add 0.5 ml of semen sample to the test. Instructions for use.

SwimCount Sperm Quality Test is a user-friendly home test that provides you or your partner with an answer in 30 minutes regarding whether the sperm quality is normal.

Danish SwimCount Sperm Quality Test provides an answer in 30 minutes regarding whether the sperm quality is normal or impaired.

The test is 95% accurate compared to a semen sample that a fertility doctor would analyze under a microscope. Therefore, SwimCount Sperm Quality Test can be used as an alternative to the initial visit to the doctor.

SwimCount Sperm Quality Test measures the motile sperm cells - in other words, sperm cells that can swim and reach the woman's egg for fertilization. So, if the number of these sperm cells is impaired, the man will have a harder time fertilizing the woman. When looking at other sperm tests on the market, they also measure dead, deformed, and non-motile sperm cells, which will never be able to fertilize an egg. Therefore, it can be difficult to use the results of those tests for a useful answer.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a man should have more than 5 million PMSCs/ml. If your sperm quality test shows a low result, it means that you or your partner had under 5 million PMSCs/ml in this semen sample. This means that you or he may have difficulty getting a woman pregnant.

An easy home test that is an alternative to the first visit to the doctor.

SwimCount™ is the only home test capable of measuring the concentration of progressive motile sperm cells, which are the only sperm cells capable of reaching and fertilizing an egg. SwimCount™ does not only measure the total number of sperm cells (quantity) in your semen sample, which is known to consist of many different types of sperm cells, but it sorts the "good and usable" ones from the "bad" ones, providing you with a valid and qualitative answer regarding your fertility potential.

There are two chambers in the device, and only the progressive motile sperm cells can swim from chamber 1 to chamber 2. Frequently asked questions

Her finder du vores FAQ om SwimCount Sperm Quality Test

SwimCount Sperm Quality Test works by measuring the number of your sperm cells that can swim, specifically the progressive motile sperm cells. SwimCount is based on a completely new and patented technology invented by the Danish company Motilitycount ApS. The device consists of three chambers. Only the progressive motile sperm cells can swim from chamber 1 (Sample Chamber) to chamber 2 (Separation Chamber). The progressive motile sperm cells are stained with a dye in chamber 2, which produces the color in chamber 3 (Detection and Result Window). The more progressive motile sperm cells in the semen sample, the darker the color in the detection and result window. To use SwimCount, produce a semen sample in the provided sperm cup. Add the semen sample to the SwimCount Test using the provided pipette. After 30 minutes, you can see in the result window whether your sperm quality is above or below the WHO's threshold for low/good sperm quality (5 million progressive motile sperm cells per milliliter). SwimCount is 95% accurate (referred to as Accuracy Rate) compared to the result a fertility doctor would measure by analyzing your semen sample under a microscope. If the result in SwimCount indicates that your sperm quality is low, you should contact your doctor for further testing.
Yes, there are several factors that you should be aware of, as they can potentially affect the test result of the SwimCount sperm quality test: Timing: It is important to perform the test within the recommended timeframe after producing the semen sample. Following the instructions regarding the incubation period and timing is crucial for accurate results. Temperature: The test should be conducted at room temperature (around 20-30 degrees Celsius or 68-86 degrees Fahrenheit). Extreme temperatures, both high and low, can potentially affect the performance of the test. Contamination: Make sure to follow proper hygiene practices when handling the test components. Contamination from external sources, such as dust or other substances, can interfere with the test and affect the accuracy of the results. Improper sample collection: Collecting the semen sample improperly or not following the instructions for sample collection can impact the test results. It is important to carefully follow the instructions provided with the test kit. Expired or damaged test kit: Ensure that the test kit is not expired or damaged before performing the test. Using an expired or damaged kit can compromise the accuracy of the results. Medications and supplements: Certain medications or supplements may affect sperm motility and quality. If you are taking any medications or supplements that could potentially influence your sperm quality, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or your doctor. It is crucial to carefully read and follow the instructions provided with the SwimCount sperm quality test to obtain reliable and accurate results. If you have any concerns or questions, it is recommended to consult with a healthcare professional for further guidance.
The SwimCount sperm Quality Test is known for its high level of accuracy. It is reported to have an accuracy rate of 95% compared to the results obtained by a fertility doctor analyzing a semen sample under a microscope. This means that the SwimCount test provides results that are highly consistent with the analysis performed by a medical professional. It offers a reliable assessment of sperm quality, specifically the concentration of progressive motile sperm cells. It is important to note that while the SwimCount test is highly accurate, it is still a home-based test and not a substitute for a comprehensive fertility evaluation conducted by a healthcare professional. If the test results indicate low sperm quality, it is advisable to consult with a doctor for further evaluation and guidanc
