Bio-SelenoPrecise from Pharma Nord is a dietary supplement consisting of tablets with 100 µg of selenium from SelenoPrecise, which is Pharma Nord's patented and standardized selenium yeast. In addition to organically bound selenomethionine and methylselenocysteine, the selenium yeast contains more than 20 other organic selenium compounds.

Selenium is a vital trace element that forms part of a large number of seleno-proteins and selenium-dependent enzymes with importance for human health and well-being. One of these enzymes is glutathione peroxidase (gsh-pX), which has a number of important functions in the body and contributes to maintaining a good health status. Selenium is also important for the body's production of metabolic hormones. Selenium is known to be involved in biological processes which are important for the maintenance of, among other things, a normal immune system, the functioning of the thyroid gland, the formation of sperm cells, cell protection against oxidative stress, normal hair and normal nails.

Selenium and male fertility

Before a sperm can reach the woman's egg and fertilize it, the sperm must be able to move. This forward movement is called motility.
